As an eCommerce store owner, I’m always on the lookout for new products to add to our inventory. But with so many options out there, it can be tough to know which ones will actually sell.

I recently stumbled upon a simple hack that has helped us identify profitable product opportunities, and I wanted to share it with you today.

It all started when I was trying to decide whether or not to add a new type of sunscreen to our store. I did some research and found that there was a lot of competition for the leading branded keyword.

At first, I was discouraged. I didn’t want to enter a market that was already saturated.

But then I remembered a piece of advice I had heard from an eCommerce consultant: “Don’t just look at the competition. Look at the demand.”

So, I decided to take a closer look at the search volume for the non-branded keyword “sunscreen.” And what I found surprised me.

There was a significant amount of search volume for this keyword, even though there were very few stores selling that particular type of sunscreen.

This was a clear signal that there was demand for this product, and that there was an opportunity for us to capture some of that market share.

I decided to add the product to our store, and I’m glad I did. It’s been one of our best-selling products ever since.

This experience taught me a valuable lesson: When it comes to product selection, it’s important to pay attention to both the competition and the demand.

If you’re ever feeling overwhelmed by product selection, I encourage you to use this hack to help you identify profitable opportunities.

Here’s a quick recap of the hack:

    1. Identify high-demand branded keywords for a product category
    2. Analyze the search volume for both branded and non-branded keywords
    3. Evaluate the competition for the leading branded keyword
    4. If there’s significant demand and low competition, add that product to your store

I hope this helps you on your eCommerce journey!
